Soon BMW drivers in China will have a new offshoot brand that's created and sold in China especially for them. This affordable new collection of vehicles will be produced and sold solely in the Chinese market (at least at first) and will be named Zinoro and called "Zinuo" in Chinese.

BMW isn't the first automaker to create a brand especially for the fast-growing Chinese market. Several other brands have similar plans to launch China-only branding. By doing this, both BMW and these other brands have the opportunity to build simple, affordable vehicles specifically for this market without attaching their more luxurious brand names to the products. This will also prove an intelligent move should BMW decide to take its new Zinoro brand to other countries in the future.

The first production vehicle to be released by the brand is rumored to be an SUV electric vehicle, which will be followed by the BMW i3 plug-in hybrid city vehicle. The new Zinoro brand will not be affiliated with the BMW i brand, however; new vehicles from this brand will more accurately reflect Chinese tastes and culture.
