Recently, a BMW 2 Series Active Hybrid Tourer was seen on the test track. It would appear that BMW has been working on variants of the 2 Series Active Tourer since its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

We don't have a lot of details on this car right now, since it's still in its early stages. However, what we do know is that it looks an awful lot like it could become the production version of the earlier electrified hatchback Concept Active Tourer. This concept had a hybridized 1.5L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine and was paired with an electric motor. It produced 190hp and 147lb-ft of torque. Although we don't know anything for sure at the moment, we're thinking that the test model will adopt the old concept's powertrain.

Here are a couple pictures of the test car from earlier this year. Keep in mind it has evolved a lot since then.

Here at BMW of Sioux Falls, we're so excited to find out what's next for this car. There's no word on if/when it will be going into production, but we certainly hope it's soon. For more information on the BMW 2 Series Active Hybrid Tourer or other new BMWs, visit our Sioux Falls, SD showroom.
