It’s taken five generations, but it’s finally happened. The all-new 2018 BMW M5 unveiled this week won’t just come with 600 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque from a twin-turbo V8, but also feature all-wheel drive. But don’t fret, purists. With its M xDrive system, the M5 can hit sixty from a stop in 3.2 seconds, and also has a RWD option among its driving modes.

The result is the quickest M5 yet, but raw power isn’t the sole focus of this new performance sedan. BMW has reworked the suspension, widened the track, and added thicker anti-roll bars, to name a few changes. Braking power is handled by M Compound brakes as standard fair, with 15.5-inch front and 15-inch rear rotors, blue calipers with six-piston front units. M Carbon Ceramic Brakes with gold finish are an option, and shave 50 lbs. from the weight. You can also add on speed-sensitive steering, and a Variable Damper Control System.
