Six consecutive years running of records broken, and headed into a seventh, BMW is set to continue its sales momentum into 2017 and beyond, with its three premium brands, BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce, contributing to a total of 163,288 vehicles delivered worldwide, an overall increase of 6.8%. Broken down, BMW sales rocketed 7.2%, totaling 143,553, thanks to BMW X1, 3 Series and flagship 7 Series vehicles, while sales of MINI grew 3.7% to 19,563 due to the movement of MINI Cabrio and Clubman. And as crunched numbers go, in tandem with increased BMW deliveries in Germany, the UK, France and Europe in general, as well as in Asia, with special callout for the Chinese market, and in the Americas, with a steady 1.0% total growth, these are rather a big deal.

And BMW electrified models bespeak a condition even better for the automaker, with double sales in January, up 115.8% on the same month last year thanks to BMW i and iPerformance driving success.

Needless to say, the excitement is palpable, as Dr. Ian Robertson, BMW AG Board of Management member with Sales and Marketing connections, tells us, in a glimpse of what's to come: "We’re confident that the new models we’re bringing to market this year, especially the new-generation BMW 5 Series which is about to arrive in dealerships" in mid-February 2017, "will ensure further momentum as the year goes on." Likewise, we can expect to see an iteration of the MINI Countryman rev onto lots in February, as well as a further turn in the EV direction with the introduction of the BMW 530e iPerformance in March and the MINI Cooper SE Countryman ALL4 plug-in hybrid in June.
