Smelling rubber while driving could indicate a flat tire. If a tire goes flat, you need to find out some. Sometimes, the pressure dropped low due to a small hole. Checking the tire pressure could have given a heads up. And what about checking the treads? Driving on worn treads could lead to a dire safety risk. Here is some news: checking air pressure and treads isn’t difficult.
An air pressure gauge reveals a tire’s psi. If the psi is lower or higher than the tire manufacturer’s recommendation, add or let out some air. Please keep checking the psi, as punctures don’t heal themselves. Be aware tires do lose air pressure slowly every month, even without any punctures.
Treads also wear down as you drive a vehicle. Check the treads with a special tool or perform an old-time “penny test.” Once treads get too low, the tires require replacing.
